This notice describes how The Asian Dinker (theasiandinker.co) handles personal data. The site is operated from Hong Kong. The Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Cap. 486) applies. This is a working draft for the operator to review with a Hong Kong solicitor before relying on it at scale. It is not legal advice.

What we collect

  • Newsletter: email address you submit to The Dink Sheet (stored in our site database).
  • Editor / admin accounts: email, password hash, and an HttpOnly session cookie.
  • Security / rate-limit logs: short-lived records of sign-in and form attempts, which may include IP address, deleted after about a day.
  • Hosting / delivery: Cloudflare may process technical logs (IP, user agent, request metadata) to serve and protect the site.
  • We do not sell personal data.

Why we use it

  • Send newsletter updates once email sending is enabled.
  • Authenticate editors so the desk can publish.
  • Protect forms and accounts against abuse.
  • Operate, secure, and improve theasiandinker.co.

Where data is processed

Content and databases are hosted on Cloudflare (including regions that may be outside Hong Kong). By using the site or submitting an email, you understand that may involve transfer to Cloudflare’s infrastructure under their terms.

Essential cookies only for signed-in editors (session). Public readers are not required to accept marketing cookies for core browsing of published pages.

Your choices

You may ask to access, correct, or erase personal data we hold about you, or unsubscribe from the newsletter, by emailing asiandinker@gmail.com. We may need to verify your request.
