Today’s Championship Day lineup
Order of play (from 13:00 HKT)
- Women’s Doubles final — Anna Bright / Anna Leigh Waters vs Tyra Hurricane Black / Jorja Johnson
- Women’s Singles final — Judit Castillo vs Andie Dikosavljevic
- Men’s Doubles final — Ben Johns / Gabriel Tardio vs Federico Staksrud / Hayden Patriquin
- Men’s Singles final — Tama Shimabukuro vs Hunter Johnson
- Mixed Doubles final — Ben Johns / Anna Leigh Waters vs Anna Bright / Hayden Patriquin
Bright is doubled up: she partners Waters for the WD final, then faces Waters (with Johns) in the XD closer. Castillo and Dikosavljevic meet again a week after Dikosavljevic took gold at the Australian Pickleball Cup. The Slam is the final stop of PPA Tour Asia for 2026 — and the dragon medal is on the line for whoever crowns the week.
What to watch
WD opener. Bright/Waters steamrolled the semis 11-4, 11-0. Black/Johnson clawed through three games. One side has looked like a shutout machine; the other refused to leave.
WS rematch. Castillo edged Kunimoto in two; Dikosavljevic bagelled Dennehy. Last week’s Cup finalists go again for Slam gold.
MD headline. Johns/Tardio vs Staksrud/Patriquin — the week’s clearest power-doubles collision after Friday’s brothers quarterfinal and Saturday’s clean semis.
MS Asia angle. Shimabukuro vs Hunter Johnson — Asia’s deepest men’s singles run of the Slam against a Johnson who came from a game down to oust Staksrud.
XD finale. Johns/Waters swept into the final 11-0, 11-1. Bright/Patriquin survived the match of the semis — a three-game shootout with the Johnson siblings — to set up Bright vs Waters on opposite teams.
Path here — Friday quarters to Saturday semis
Midweek at Kai Tak was Hong Kong’s story first, then the draw’s heavyweights took over.
On Thursday 22 October, home MD hopes ended in the round of 16: Collin Johns / Len Yang beat Eunggwon Kim / Hong Kit Wong 11-3, 8-11, 11-5. Wong still had singles left.
On Friday 23 October, Wong’s home run nearly flipped a Men’s Singles quarterfinal — then didn’t. Federico Staksrud beat Hong Kit Wong 8-11, 11-9, 12-10. That night the brothers collided in MD: Ben Johns / Gabriel Tardio beat Collin Johns / Len Yang 11-3, 11-3. Castillo, Dikosavljevic, Kunimoto and Dennehy all booked WS semis; Bright/Waters and Black/Johnson marched in WD; Johns/Waters and Bright/Patriquin set up the XD half.
On Saturday 24 October, every Pro final locked — including the mixed semi that was still live when our Day 4 wrap went up.
